STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Personal with resources to operate in a contaminated area to decontaminate individuals needing medical care.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintain a safe environment
- Site access control – security
- Stripper / Bagger
- Dryer / Dresser / Quality Control
- Decontamination Site Set up
- Triage
- Washer & Rinse
- Ensure the safety and security of personnel
- Direct contaminated patients through the decon process
- Perform decontamination procedures
- Recover operations:
- Equipment cleaning
- Management of wastewater
- Team debriefing
- Provide services in a manner that avoids further contamination in the healthcare environment
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
- Ensure proper PPE is worn and safety procedures are followed
- Participate and assist with two drills/simulations every 12 months
- Participate and attend annual meeting
- Assist with inventory of decon supplies
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION: (SANE RN)
- PREPARATION AND TRAINING - Required to successfully complete Hospital Hazmat & Decon Operations on an annual basis.
- WORK EXPERIENCE Current JRMC employee in good standing and has completed 90 days of service.
- ATTENDANCE - Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at JRMC. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Employees are also expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule.
- ANALYTICAL ABILITY - A high level of analytical ability is required in a variety of duties in order to gather and interpret complex data and to find solutions to difficult problems.
- INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT - Independent judgment is often required by the employee based on established policies and procedures.
- CONTACTS WITH OTHERS - Very frequent contact with others. Must demonstrate social sensitivity and the ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner.
- SUPERVISING THE WORK OF OTHERS - Working in collaboration with the Decontamination team.
- RESPONSIBILITY FOR WELFARE OF OTHERS - Maintain professionalism throughout the process of decontamination.
- MENTAL/VISUAL EFFORT - Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. Must demonstrate physical and emotional ability to meet agreed upon work schedule and performance standards required by the position. Required duties are such that concentrated attention must be applied on demand consistent with manual skill requirements in situations that may at times be stressful. Visual acuity necessary for reading charts and working with medical devices.
- WORKING CONDITIONS OSHA - job classification: This position is defined as a Category I in which the employee does have exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Position requires exposure to patients with infectious disease and odor. Participates in and complies with JRMC Safety Management program. Position is subject to frequent interruptions. Work may be on weekends and holidays; beyond normal working hours and/or temporarily in other positions when necessary.
- PHYSICAL AND SENSORY EFFORT - Frequent standing or walking. Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients and/or equipment. Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching. Needs finger dexterity when handling specialized equipment and performing assessments.
- PROMOTION - No formal line of promotion.
