POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides intake, assessment, therapy, and case management services to adults, adolescents, children and their families by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide client centered supportive counseling to improve client’s well-being and reduce mental health distress symptoms
Keep detailed progress notes regarding client interactions and progress
Maintain client case files ensuring progress notes are current and submitted in a timely manner, including entering client interactions within an electronic health record system
Provide case management services, including information and referral, and client advocacy as needed
Attend trainings and workshops as required to improve job skills
Help develop supportive mental health programs, including support groups and outreach
Support the mental health program through interactions in community and refugee meetings, and participating in community and organization events
Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served
Model and encourage direct, professional communications among staff members and facilitate development of a positive staff support network

An understanding of mental health issues, especially as they may be applied cross-culturally

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or another Social Sciences field. A Master's Degree is preferred. Must have a minimum of two years experience delivering social services, preferably in a community health setting. Must have experience working cross-culturally, preferably with refugees and/or immigrants. For those that are Master’s level, experience with assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning, as well as with trauma-focused interventions is a huge plus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must be a registered or licensed counselor in the State of Washington, or be eligible. If driving for this position, valid WA State Driver’s License and auto insurance will be required.
