Job Summary
The incumbent to this position reports to the Director of Food and Nutrition Services or their designee with direct collaboration with the director of Education. The Diabetes Program Coordinator is someone with a high degree of knowledge, skill, and competence teaching and instructing patients in the care of diabetes. The Diabetes Program Coordinator is responsible for the organization, administration, continued development, evaluation and effectiveness of educational programs presented to diabetic patients and their families. . This position also is responsible for maintaining and collect certification data on the classes taught to maintain ADA accreditation.
Essential Functions
- Develops Diabetes Education content.
- Facilitates diabetes education in conjunction with clinical education to staff, patients and families.
- Responsible to maintain current and relevant program content.
- Responsible to collect and maintain data pertinent to ADA accreditation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Nutrition or related field required or
- 0-1 years Diabetic teaching and program organization. Previous work experience dealing with the principles and practice of Diabetic nursing required. required
- 0-1 years Previous experience using adult education techniques preferred. required
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Dietitian required
- Certified Diabetic Educator required
- BCLS required
