- QMA pay starting from $21.00 an hour

WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA), you’ll administer medications and treatments under the direction of licensed nursing staff, while also supporting and supervising resident care. You'll play an essential role in promoting health, comfort, and dignity for those we serve.
Medication Administration & Treatments
- Administer oral, topical, suppository, eye, and ear medications per physician orders.
- Set up and organize med carts and deliver medications accurately and on schedule.
- Perform treatments such as enemas, dressing applications, Sitz baths, and oxygen administration.
- Administer medications via G-Tube, J-Tube, and metered dose inhalers.
- Conduct diabetic urine testing, blood glucose checks, and collect lab specimens.
- Maintain accurate medication records and controlled substance counts.
- Observe residents for medication side effects or changes in condition and report accordingly.
- Follow infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
Resident Care & Supervision
- Provide direct care for a selected group of residents as needed.
- Function as a nurse aide when not assigned to pass medications.
- Supervise nursing assistants and guide them in safe, effective resident care.
- Make rounds at least twice per shift to monitor resident status and ensure care plans are followed.
- Support restorative nursing measures and assist in personal care delivery as directed.
- Ensure documentation is completed daily and weekly, including care plans, summaries, and I&Os.
Team Communication & Documentation
- Give clear handoff reports and oral instructions about resident care.
- Record changes in condition, incidents, and new orders on appropriate forms.
- Communicate updates and concerns with the Shift Charge Nurse or Unit Coordinator.
- Contribute to resident care planning and continuity of care across shifts and transitions.
WHAT YOU NEED
Education & Certification
- Completion of State-approved Qualified Medication Aide course and certification.
- CNA certification required if functioning in a dual role.
- Current certification in good standing with the Indiana State Department of Health.
Experience
- One year of experience in long-term care is preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Solid understanding of medical terminology and basic nursing procedures.
- Excellent observation, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Comfort using computers and electronic medical records.
