Description
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to residents. This role involves assessing resident conditions, administering medications, coordinating care plans, and supervising nursing staff, all while ensuring that residents' comfort, privacy, and dignity are maintained.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Resident Care and Interaction (30%)
- Provide direct care to residents according to their individualized care plans.
- Provide exceptional customer service and high-quality care by showing compassion and empathy towards residents and their families.
- Assist with daily activities, including meals and hydration.
- Assessment, Monitoring, and Documentation (20%)
- Assess resident care situations and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
- Observe, monitor, and document any changes in resident conditions.
- Collect and record data for nursing assessments, updating care plans as residents’ needs change.
- Medication and Treatment Administration (15%)
- Administer and document physician-ordered medications and treatments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Monitor residents’ responses to medications and treatments, and report any adverse effects to the physician and Director of Nursing.
- Coordination and Communication (10%)
- Maintain consistent communication with the Director of Nursing, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care plan meetings and consult with team members as necessary.
- Compliance and Training (10%)
- Participate in Quality Assurance reviews and audits to ensure compliance with facility policies and healthcare regulations.
- Follow infection control guidelines and maintain all privacy rules under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Attend all meetings and complete in-services and mandatory training.
- Supervision and Leadership (5%)
- Plan, supervise, and evaluate the work of nursing personnel, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Make regular rounds and ensure that any changes in residents’ conditions are promptly reported and addressed.
- Environmental Safety and Reporting (5%)
- Maintain a safe, neat, and clean environment for residents and staff.
- Report any environmental deficiencies, such as lighting issues or equipment problems, and monitor for safety or fire hazards.
- Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Licensure: Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Certification: Maintain current CPR certification.
- Experience: Previous experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred.
- Skills: Strong clinical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and leadership skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, turn, move and transport residents, and perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, walking, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Capacity to handle stressful situations and respond to emergencies calmly and effectively.
- Work is performed in a healthcare environment, with exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and potentially hazardous materials.
- Must be able to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
