What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full time Occupational therapy assistant position at Lutheran Senior Services?
Summary:
Provides direct occupational therapy to patients in their residence. Implements plan of care. Adheres to the Code of Conduct and upholds the philosophy, vision, and core values of the organization and ensures the Christian Mission of Lutheran Senior Services is realized so that “Older Adults Live Life to the Fullest”.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assists OTR in developing and implementing individual treatment goals which reflects patients’ needs.
2. Assists OTR in developing an OT treatment plan on each patient. Reviews and consults with OTR frequently for needed changes.
3. Following review with OTR, communicates with other members of medical care team and personnel of other departments in providing for patient’s total needs. This includes recommending other ancillary service referrals.
4. Implements treatment plan as outlined by OTR and reports progress in medical record on each visit.
5. Provide support and education for patient and family members regarding patient’s OT needs. OTR communicates with physician, home care nurse, OTR, promptly on any changes in patient’s physical or emotional condition, or any significant occurrences.
6. Attends and participates in case conferences and agency in-service programs.
7. Provide input in establishing department polices.
8. Promote awareness and utilization of home care services to other professionals, physicians, and the community.
9. Participates as a member of the home care team.
10. Other duties as assigned.

Two years occupational therapy from program approved by the American Occupation Therapy Association.
Current registration or eligible for registration as an OTA by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Current license from the Missouri State Board of Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Current CPR certification.
Current Driver’s License.

The physical activities and demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job duties and responsibilities.
Strength: may be required to lift, transfer, physically assist patients to safely move from place to place in and around the patient’s home. Proper body mechanics are expected to be used to maintain clinician and patient safety throughout treatments.
Stamina: may have to lift clients, and spend much of their time on their feet either standing, walking, climbing stairs, walking on indoor/outdoor surfaces. Strength and stamina are needed to do the job.
Working Environment:
A well-lighted and ventilated working area with temperature control system. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Minimal exposure to chemicals and hazardous waste. Minimal exposure to outside weather conditions. Appropriate ergonomic and personal safety equipment is provided as needed.
