Purpose and Impact :
The Employment Specialist plays a vital role in facilitating effective resettlement, social integration, and self-sufficiency by providing comprehensive employment services to refugees and entrants.
Essential Functions :
- Conduct thorough intake processes to gather demographic information.
- Perform initial assessments to create tailored service plans for clients.
- Regularly update service plans to document client progress and changes.
- Collaborate with clients to develop individualized employability and self-sufficiency plans.
- Assist clients with unique challenges in achieving their self-sufficiency goals.
- Provide referrals to additional services as needed.
- Issue and manage referrals for support services based on client needs.
- Create household budgets to determine income required for self-sufficiency.
- Offer personal counseling and orientation regarding program guidelines and responsibilities.
- Document client progress through regular updates of case files.
- Deliver training to program staff as required.
- Maintain case notes in the WTS system for TANF participants.
- Support clients with job applications, interview preparation, onboarding, and work adjustment.
- Meet individual performance goals set by funding sources and LSF.
- Ensure high client placement rates in full-time employment within established timeframe.
- Coordinate with assigned staff for accurate job placement documentation.
- Conduct follow-ups at designated intervals post-placement to monitor client progress.
- Assist clients in complying with program rules and regulations, documenting compliance efforts.
- Attend relevant trainings and meetings to stay informed and connected.
- Present program to employers and community organizations as necessary.
- Act in a managerial capacity when the manager is unavailable.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Additional Responsibilities :
Physical Requirements :
Must be able to lift at least 45 pounds, with accommodations for qualified individuals. Role involves regular sitting and computer work, with occasional bending and the need to drive to various locations.
Education :
High School / GED diploma required.
Experience :
A minimum of two years in delivering employment services to refugees and immigrants in social service settings is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Other Requirements :
Must demonstrate sensitivity towards the cultural and socioeconomic needs of the service population.
