Maintenance Technician
Full Time Days/7am - 3:30pm, 7:30am-4pm or 8-5pm /$17 - $20/hr
Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for Faith Mission in Fairfield County. Faith Mission is one of the largest homeless shelters in our area providing meals and shelter to men, women and Veterans with dignity and compassion.

What will I do as the Maintenance Technician with Lutheran Social Services?
- Perform routine and/or basic mechanical maintenance throughout the assigned facility including completing repairs on plumbing, electrical, appliances, and HVAC systems according to manufacturer's specifications. Performs preventative maintenance on facility equipment, maintains maintenance rooms, janitorial rooms, and related storage areas in a clean and organized manner to LSS standards.
- Performs routine custodial and basic carpentry duties as assigned including painting (interior and exterior), patching and spackling drywall, installing/removing flooring, and other basic carpentry and finish work.
- Reviews, analyzes, prioritizes and completes work schedule based on individual work order requests, as well as routine maintenance and grounds keeping requirements. Acts as principal liaison to residents regarding status of work order requests. Keeps community manager appraised of work order status.
- Maintains accurate records including inventories of tools, supplies and appliances. Maintains vacancy reconditioning logs, work order log book, and all other necessary documents.
- Performs routine HUD and LSS required safety inspections and documents results. Participates as needed for bi-annual inspections by the Directors of Risk Management and Facilities Maintenance.
- Performs basic facility maintenance including checking, filling, and/or replacing equipment fluids and filters, screens, etc. Notifies supervisor of damage or decay to any area of the facility including building structure, catch basis, walkways, and parking lot.
- Manages snow removal for the facility. This includes ensuring all steps, walkways and emergency exits are free of snow and ice, removing snow from parking areas and away from the buildings, walkways, driveways, and parked cars. Applies ice melt products to ensure a safe environment.
- Provides accessibility and support for contracted outside service providers as required.
- Promote the highest quality of life for residents by ensuring the building, grounds, and systems are maintained to the highest quality standards and within the assigned HUD facility's operating budget.
- Maintains OSHA and OBWC work standards and records.
Requirements for the Maintenance Technician with Lutheran Social Services:
- High school education or GED required.
- 3-5 years' experience in building maintenance or related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of grounds and facility maintenance.
- Demonstrated skills in basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical applications.
- Experience in operating grounds keeping equipment and use of basic maintenance equipment and hand tools.
- Ability to work varied and flexible schedule to respond to on-call responsibility and other emergency situations.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license and provide proof of auto insurance.
