POSITION: Supervisor of Social ServicesOur Sisters Place
REPORTS TO: Director of Residential Foster Care
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time (Management Team)
EXEMPT/NONEXEMPT: Exempt
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Supervisor of Social Services is responsible for the supervision of LSSNY Residential Foster Care Programs case planner and social service delivery at the residence, Our Sisters Place (OSP). The Supervisor of Social Services is classified as anessentialworker, and as such, accepts responsibility for the completion of their critical services to clientsin person, even during times of emergency which may include reporting to a program site. These include, but are not limited to, emergencies caused by: weather, nationwide pandemics, civil unrest, and domestic threat.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

Ensure compliance with local, state, and Federal rules and regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA

Oversee tracking systems of programmatic performance targets and other reporting measures

Attend all Interdisciplinary Team Meetings for Childrens Services

Assume on site administrative responsibility for program participant records

Evaluate staff performance during selection period and annually
-
Participate in all service plan reviews and Family Team Conferences (FTC) for program participants

Monitor case records documentation and timeliness of documentation

Review progress notes, court reports, FASPs, permanency reports and Service Plans of assigned Case Planner to ensure quality work is being performed and that

Monitor compliance (timely submission) with Connections expectations

Provide direct supervision to the program Case Planner

Provides ongoing feedback and annual job performance evaluations to case managers.

Communicate the Agencys vision, policies, and procedures to the staff and report program concerns to the Director of Residential Foster Care.

Serve as a liaison between program participants and the program director
-
Provide crisis management, mediation meetings, and other therapeutic interventions to program participants
-
Work in collaboration with other departments, agencies, systems and institutions to maximize resources available to the program participants

Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with program participants, maintaining professional boundaries and a non-judgmental, unbiased approach

Ensure quality assurance and excellence in service provision

Regularly assess the safety and well-being of all program participants
-
Other duties as required by direct supervisor or needs of the program/agency

On Call-24 hours. Ability to work flexible hours as needed including nights, weekend, holidays

EDUCATION:
-
Masters degree in social work or equivalent in human services or related field
EXPERIENCE:
-
Minimum of two years working experience in foster care or related field

Minimum one year supervisory/management experience
-
Experience working with young adults (ages 15-21yrs old) is preferable
-
Bilingual (Spanish)a plus
QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills. Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks

Ability to work collaboratively with consumers and co-workers

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Experience and facility working with Microsoft Office Applications and OCFS Connections

Knowledge of city and state regulations (ACS, OCFS, etc.)

Ability to use problem-solving and analytical thinking skills

Knowledgeable in working with foster care youth and children and families at-risk

Knowledge of behavior management and child development
-
Understanding of social services theories and systems, and believes in reunification and maintaining the family of origin as primary objective

Ability to work from a trauma informed lens. Sensitive to intersectionality, different cultures, and a demonstrated ability to work within a social/racial justice framework

Ability to navigate throughout New York City using public transportation and/or have a valid New York State drivers license and access to a motor vehicle

Ability to make appropriate decisions to ensure the safety and well being of families

Ability to represent the Agency with respect to program development and implementation
-
Ability to improve the skills of others by identifying areas of performance strengths and develop opportunities, through mentoring and coaching, to develop staff for longevity at LSSNY
