JOB TITLE: Dining Ambassador / Dietary Aide
DEPARTMENT: Dietary
REPORTS TO: Food Service Director
HOURS: 4p-8p This is a part time position
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for preforming a variety of duties in the Dietary Department to insure the area is kept clean and all services are accomplished in a customer friendly environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Making tea and coffee, cleaning coffee machines in health care
- Working on tray line, setting up the trays with utensils, napkins, condiments, read and call out the diet cards, some bending over for tray and lifting up to 10 ponds
- Putting plates, desserts, and drink on tray then put on cart, some bending is required as well
- Cleaning area and putting away milk, juice, empty tea urns and cleaning
- Retrieve trays and trash from floor, help washing dishes, trays, and sweep and help with mopping floor, must be able to lift trash cans
- Therapeutic Diet Expertise: Knowledge of therapeutic diets, modified textures, and special dietary requirements. Ensure that all meals are prepared and served according to dietary restrictions, including modified textures and therapeutic diets such as low-sodium, Minced & Moist, Puree, chopped, diabetic or NCS, No added salt or NAS, or other specialized diet orders.
- Food Safety & Compliance: Strong understanding of food safety protocols and health department regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of food safety standards, regulatory compliance, and health department regulations. Ensure that all meals are prepared, stored, and served in accordance with these guidelines.
- Knowledge of Food Allergens: Know common food allergens (e.g., wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, gluten, eggs).
- Ability to Identify HACCP (CCPs): Identify stages in food preparation where contamination risks are highest, such as during cooking, cooling, or storage, and take corrective actions when necessary.
- Reports all unusual conditions, behaviors, and/or resident reactions to the appropriate Licensed personnel in a timely manner.
- Responds and reacts in a kind, polite, and professional manner to residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and supervision.
- Responsible for protecting any confidential information concerning residents, family, and/or the organization.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to all Safety procedures and facility Fire, Disaster, and Bomb Threat procedures.
- Adheres to all organizational, departmental, and nursing procedures in the performance of position responsibilities.
- Must attend organizational or departmental conferences and/or in-services as scheduled.
- May be required to perform other duties in keeping with the nature of this position which will not significantly alter the job requirements
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- One or more years of experience in food service preferred.
