Lutron, a global leader in innovative lighting and shading solutions, is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join our dynamic Finance team. This high-impact leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to partner with senior leadership and play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy of a world-class organization. In this position, you will serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the Senior Leadership team and a key member of the Commercial Leadership Team. This role is essential to driving Lutron's financial success by overseeing strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial close, and financial analysis. Additionally, you will focus on enhancing internal controls, financial processes, and procedures to support continued growth and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Budgeting & Financial Planning Leadership:
- Own and lead the annual budgeting process for Lutron’s Commercial Business Unit, setting financial targets and strategic direction to ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
- Actively drive the business forecast and planning processes, building and managing sales and spending forecasts to guide performance.
- Evaluate key assumptions and inputs for the budget, ensuring consistency with the company’s strategic vision and market trends.
- Regularly assess business opportunities, investment projects, and cost optimization initiatives, ensuring alignment with Lutron’s financial goals and long-term strategy.

Business Forecasting & Performance Management:
- Lead the monthly financial results discussions for the Commercial Business Unit, analyzing key financial metrics and identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on financial results, collaborating with leadership to ensure corrective actions are taken where necessary.

Finance Business Partnering:
- Serve as a trusted business partner across various departments, working closely with product managers, sales, and operations teams to provide financial guidance on business decisions and investments.
- Ensure that business initiatives and performance metrics are aligned with Lutron’s overall strategic goals, optimizing business performance and financial outcomes.
- Drive meaningful financial analysis that informs business investments, resource allocation, and cost management.
- Monitor relevant control limits, escalating concerns when appropriate, to ensure financial discipline and risk mitigation.

Financial Reporting & Executive Communications:
- Prepare executive-level financial presentations for senior management, delivering clear, concise, and insightful reports on financial performance, forecasts, and business opportunities.
- Communicate key financial results, trends, and opportunities to leadership and influence business decisions to ensure financial objectives are met.

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence:
- Collaborate with other finance teams globally to standardize processes, improve efficiencies, and drive operational improvements across the finance function.
- Continuously assess and enhance financial planning and analysis tools, methodologies, and systems to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of financial data.

Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct performance evaluations, and provide coaching to enhance team development and professional growth.
- Identify training and development opportunities to ensure the team’s capabilities are aligned with Lutron’s evolving business needs.

Market Insights & Strategic Recommendations:
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitive dynamics, and market conditions, leveraging this knowledge to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
- Assess the external environment’s impact on the Commercial Business Unit’s financial performance, ensuring strategic decisions are data-driven and forward-looking.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA preferred)
- 10 years of relevant and progressive accounting/finance experience
- 5 years people management experience directly leading and managing analysts and/or managers.
- Experience promoting a culture of accountability and fostering growth and development
- Proven track record of working collaboratively, with an ability to influence major decisions through reasoned analysis and good judgment about people and business issues.
- Outstanding technical and analytical skills, communication ability, and sound judgment to synthesize information, develop insights and communicate effectively in presentations and in-person meetings
- Proven understanding of both corporate and operational finance with an orientation to value creation and core business drivers, and a solid business acumen
