Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Doula to provide support to individuals during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology, as well as excellent patient assessment and service skills. As a Doula, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that expectant parents feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout their birthing experience.
Duties
- Provide continuous emotional and physical support to clients before, during, and after childbirth.
- Assist clients in developing personalized birth plans that align with their preferences and needs.
- Educate clients about the stages of labor, pain management options, and newborn care.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy and physiology to guide clients through labor techniques such as breathing exercises (e.g., inhale techniques) for relaxation.
- Conduct patient assessments to monitor the well-being of both the mother and baby during labor.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers to advocate for client preferences and ensure optimal care.
- Offer postpartum support by assisting with infant care, breastfeeding education, and emotional adjustment.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology relevant to maternity care.
Experience
- Previous experience or certification as a Doula is preferred but not mandatory; training opportunities may be available.
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology related to childbirth is essential.
- Proven skills in patient assessment and delivering high-quality patient service.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is beneficial for effective communication within healthcare settings.
- A compassionate demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients.
