Lux Dermatology has ten locations throughout California and Nevada, and is currently looking for a Medical Assistant for our Bakersfield California location.
The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing consistent, efficient, and excellent patient care daily while assisting the surgeon and handling supplies and equipment as necessary during surgical procedures while demonstrating proper aseptic/sterile technique during procedures.
Requirements:
· Minimum two years continuous experience in the medical field, dermatology preferred.
· Medical scribe experience required
· Excellent verbal and written skills
· High School Diploma/GED
· Medical Assistant graduate with certification
· Must be willing to travel up to 25 miles to other office locations if needed
Essential Duties:
· Patient intake
· Documentation of all patient medical history, purpose of visit
· Confidently explain all procedures to patients
· Prepare patients for exams and procedures
· Assist providers with exams and procedures
· Assist Mohs surgeon
· Scribe for providers
· Accurately enters all MIPS data into patient chart
· Prepare & administer medications to patients, as directed by the provider following safety protocol of 5 R’s
· Accurately enter prescriptions into system & send to correct pharmacy
· Call pharmacy when necessary
· Collect specimens
· Sterilize instruments using autoclave
· Correctly dispose of infectious waste and biohazard materials
· Prior authorizations for medications, biologics, using specialized programs
· Obtaining pathology and lab results
· Clean and stock exam rooms daily
· Set up trays
· Log all cosmetic injectables and fillers
· Pre-fill syringes for daily use
· Maintain supply inventory
· Maintain equipment through proper usage and cleaning procedures
· Answer telephones and schedule appointments
· Compliance of all HIPAA rules and laws
· Knowledge of and ability to sell retail products
· Other duties as assigned

· Maintain appropriate records for mileage reimbursement, product sales, etc.
· Travel to other Lux Dermatology sites as necessary
· Provide excellent customer service
· Ability to follow direction through verbal and/or written instructions with proper spelling skills and grammar to avoid mistakes or misunderstandings
· Intermediate computer skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Dependable and follow provided work schedule
· High level of emotional and professional maturity with strong interpersonal skills

· Monday – Friday
· 8-Hour Shift
Certification:
· Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (Preferred)

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
