Operations Manager
LOCATION: Riverside, California REPORTS TO: Divisional Managing Director
SUMMARY:
To efficiently and effectively manage, lead and assume responsibility for all manufacturing, maintenance, purchasing and production control operations within the facility and obtain the best utilization of manpower, equipment, material and time. Ensures internal customer satisfaction at all times, responsible for supporting improvement initiatives and implementation of new ideas and management techniques throughout the business, engaging employees into a Lean culture through coaching and mentoring.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Utilize Lean Tools to continually improve manufacturing process. Coach & mentor employees throughout the organization on the development and deployment of Lean Tools.
- Coordinate the efforts of Engineering and Production ensuring the success of new projects transitioning from Engineering to Production. Facilitating cross functional team continuous improvement projects to improve the manufacturability of our parts.
- Maintain satisfactory production levels to meet customer requirements.
- Maximize company profitability by ensuring the specifications for quantity, quality, time and cost are met.
- Assure high-quality components through the direction of quality control checks at all stages of production and work closely with the QA manager and inspectors.
- Prepare annual departmental objectives and budgets and ensure implementation of these goals.
- Ensure maximum productivity through an effective planned maintenance program.
- Development of a fully competent work force to meet company needs through the selection, training and close follow-up of all staff within the department.
- Maintain productive industrial climate through the extensive use of human relations techniques.
- Sustain a competent work force to meet company needs through the selection, training, and close follow-up within the department.
- Utilizing company policy and procedures assist in the hiring process and support company disciplinary processes, working with the company Human Resources Department.
- Maintain and improve the Material Control System that will provide for the receipt of raw materials, production control, subcontract control, and component shipment.
- Maintain and improve the production documentation systems related to material, labor, and machine utilization and the reporting of respective efficiencies through the ERP system.
- Provide a safe working environment for all personnel; assist in Safety Committee; keep up-to-date on all OSHA regulations.
- Ensure a clean working environment; monitor housekeeping staff and production personnel to fulfil their responsibilities in this area.
- Is responsible for managing the employment levels required to support the business plan and customer delivery requirements.
- Is responsible for managing all of the capacity requirements within the facility
- Manages all KPIs defined in the business with a dedication to meet or exceed all targets to include but are not limited to On Time in Full, Scrap. PPM, OEE, and Premium Freight and Expedite charges.
- Is responsible for developing operational Capital Equipment requirements and provides support in the direction of CAPEX planning processes.
- Provides finance department with monthly Sales projections.
- Actively participates in and supports the strategic vision of the business

- Enforce all Time and Attendance Policies throughout shop floor in a fair and consistent manner
- Ensure all good Health and Safety practices are being followed.
- Responsible for Health and Safety concerns, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Identify and action appropriate training (skills, H&S, etc.)
- Attendance of company Health and Safety meetings
- Quality systems & procedures in line with accreditations; Quality Standards AS9100, ISO 45001 H & S and IS0 14001 Environmental Standards.
- Support Quality Concern/8D investigations and Corrective actions
- Process discipline & auditing
- Co-ordinate scrap investigation and corrective actions.
- Attendance at daily scrap review meetings
Objectives are issued separately from the Job Description. As a collaborative effort between Superform and the employee, objectives are reviewed, agreed and amended annually in alignment with strategic objectives.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Engineering Degree required, or relevant work experience. At least fifteen (15) years progressive experience working within cross-functional teams at a management level in the field of technical manufacturing.
- Must possess a communicative style that encourages and coaches his/her subordinates. Must be skilled in conflict resolution.
- Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public is required.
