SUMMARY:

Under General Supervision a Welder I will perform as an SPF Aluminum AWS D17.1 (MIL STD 1595-A) Certified Welder for components requiring welding of 5083 and 2004 aluminum materials.  Responsible for welding all production parts, production sheets, fixtures, tooling repairs, part repairs, material handling aids, maintenance support, etc., in the direct and indirect support of the production of SPF formed components.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include, but, are not limited to the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ability to assist in the development of new production techniques and ongoing production in relation to welding aerospace SPF Aluminum production parts, fixtures, tool repair, aluminum sheets, material handling aids, etc., for the production of SPF components. 
  • Hand finish or correct distortion of precision formed aluminum to meet the requirements of the blueprint in order to weld aluminum components to conform to customer specification requirements.
  • Read, interpret, and build production hardware to customer blueprints and specifications.
  • Work within the company and customer requirements for traceability, ISO and Nadcap.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts if required.
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations.
  • Importantly, as Superform’s success relies on the productivity of our team and adherence to customer product schedules, an essential function of this position is the ability to arrive to work on-time, as scheduled, in strict adherence to the Time and Attendance Rules Policy.

 

CONTROL:

  • Ensure all jobs before processing have appropriate work instructions, gauges, tools etc. to minimize disruption and reduce quality risks.
  • Involve and communicate with Production, Maintenance, Quality and Logistics to improve problem solving and develop work instructions and practices.

 

IMPROVED FUNCTIONING OF SHOP FLOOR:

  • Implement and maintain visual management (photo skills matrix, KPI’s, etc.)
  • Improved housekeeping through 6S culture
  • Audits to monitor quality, housekeeping and H & S
  • Encourage team working
  • Pro-active problem solving
  • Waste reduction; operator waiting, inventory, transportation, motion.
  • Health & safety controls & procedures
  • Environmental standards in line with accreditations

 

QUALITY:

  • Quality systems & procedures in line with accreditations; Quality Standards ISO 9000:2000, TS16949, AS9100 and IS0 14001 Environmental Standards.

 

OBJECTIVES:

Objectives are issued separately from the Job Description. As a collaborative effort between Superform and the employee, objectives are reviewed, agreed and amended annually in alignment with strategic objectives. 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position requires access to our export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology and services.  These items are restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to U.S. Citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents of the U.S. and properly licensed foreign persons.  Therefore, employment is contingent on compliance with ITAR regulations and successfully obtaining and maintaining the necessary export authorization license from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Department of State’s Office of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years’ experience in a Welder/Fabricators position using TIG Welding equipment.
  • Must be Certified to AWS D17.1 (MIL STD 1595-A).
  • Requires a basic understanding of engineering principles.
  • Must be skilled with, but not limited to machine shop mills, drill presses, bandsaws, polishing equipment, plasma cutter, hand tools, precision measuring instruments.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work in non-controlled temperatures ranging from 400 to 1100 Fahrenheit.  Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions may also occur.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Will be exposed to an environment of dust and occasional high noise level.  Safety equipment will be provided.

 

HOURLY WAGE:                                                                                  

                Start:                                                      $20.00

                6 Months:                                              $20.80

                12 Months:                                            $21.63

 

The above referenced wage schedule is based on satisfactory employee performance.  Employees with performance ratings below acceptable levels may find their review periods extended.
