The primary purpose of your job is to perform restorative nursing procedures that maximize the resident's existing abilities, emphasize independence instead of dependence, and minimize the negative effect of disability. You must possess an attitude of realistic optimism in accordance with the facility mission philosophy and as directed by the Director of Nursing with speech, occupational and physical therapists providing supervision and consultation relating to patient care, documentation and making a smooth transition from rehabilitation to restorative care. As the Restorative Aide, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsible, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES

High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Eighteen years of age or older.
Possession of a valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license and six months experience as a CNA.
Successful completion of the Restorative Aide program and examination.

Must have COVID vaccination card, or medical/religious exemption.
Experience:
- CPR Certification (Preferred)

MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES
- Meets with administration, medial and nursing staff, therapy staff and other related departments to plan restorative care.
- Develops and maintains restorative care standards.
- Maintains a current file on each resident under treatment. Maintains historical records, resident files, and progress notes as required. Ensures that all restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the treatment provided and of the resident's response to the care.
- Review requests for restorative care and physician's orders.
- Interviews resident to determine type of treatment and to schedule therapy.
- Selects rehabilitative and therapeutic activities and exercises based on medical and social history of resident.
- Evaluates type of therapy most desirable after consulting with the physician and therapy personnel.
- Participates in the development and implementation of resident MDS and care plans, including quarterly reviews, as they related to restorative care.
- Briefs resident of process involved in restorative care and prepares necessary equipment.
- Demonstrates procedures involved in the treatment process to residents and staff personnel, as necessary.
- Prepares resident for treatment by dress/position and administers restorative care in accordance with established guidelines.
- Encourages residents to perform or participate in ADL functions and range of motion exercises.
- Instructs and supervises resident during therapy.
- Recommends modifications and changes in the resident's restorative care as indicated.
- Assists in developing safety standards for restorative care.
- Performs other duties assigned.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition.
- Ability not to pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the work place.
- Skill in the use of the sight/hearing senses or use of the prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
- Ability to meet the general health requirements set forth by the guidelines of the facility, which include a medical and physical examination.
- Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum or 25 pounds to a minimum height of three feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of three feet.
