Engineering Manager
LuxWall is focused on the product development, scaling and commercializing of innovative glass products and solutions for the built environment. LuxWall’s transparent insulation technology, Enthermal, provides a step change in energy performance by significantly reducing convective, conductive, and radiative heat gain and heat loss in buildings. Acting as a transparent thermos bottle for building, LuxWall has the potential to reduce global carbon emissions by more than 0.5 gigaton per year with mass adoption. Enthermal will forever change the way buildings are designed and constructed for the future sustainability of our plant.
The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing and guiding the development and execution of engineering projects while ensuring the team’s productivity and efficiency. Primary focus will be on coordinating resources, managing timelines, fostering collaboration, and promoting a culture of innovation. Ensuring cost, quality and delivery of tooling or products is met and that manufacturing plant is protected from all things that could impede building a quality product on time every time at or below budget.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide input for day-to-day plant manufacturing operations.
- Management of plant automation and process engineers providing guidance, mentorship and support for their professional growth and development.
- Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing regular feedback and performance management.
- Implement controls engineering and training programs.
- Coordinate and prioritize engineering projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and on-time delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, scope, and deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and quality processes.
- Interprets engineering requirements and manufacturing key characteristics.
- Optimize technical solutions and manufacturing processes through continuous improvement methodologies.
- Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to timing, launch costs, and financial plans.
- Oversee the integration and validation of new design, manufacturing, and engineering concepts into the manufacturing floor processes.
- Assess the feasibility of new technologies by identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing best practices to ensure seamless integration.
- Manage the plant maintenance department to achieve all KPI’s which includes a top focus on all machine and equipment uptime.
- Ensure an effective preventative maintenance plan is maintained and delivered.
- Ensure the right spare parts are available on-site to minimize downtime when it occurs.
- Effectively develop a strong maintenance team with a passion for doing it right the first time, root causing the issues, and a sense of urgency when troubleshooting issues.
- Work with the other departments to help ensure new equipment is launched successfully.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field and at least 5 years related experience.
- Proven experience in engineering management or leadership roles, preferably in a fast-paced technology-driven environment.
- Strong technical and automation background.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of engineers, fostering a positive and collaborative work culture.
- Excellent project management skills, with a history of successfully delivering complex engineering projects on time and within budget.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and to communicate with production to prioritize the assignments
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and best practices.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and compliance requirements relevant to the engineering discipline.
- Proactive and self-driven, with a passion for staying up to date with the latest technological advancements and industry trends.
Work Environment
- 100% Plant floor (PPE required)
- Requires working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, chemicals, and varying temperatures and noise levels.
- Constant communication with employees, peers and management
- Overtime as required.
- Frequent requirement of handling heavy equipment (operation).
- Frequent need to give concentrated attention to surroundings.
