The Planning and Zoning Analyst will perform work in support of the overall operations of the Planning and Zoning Department to ensure the goals and objectives are accomplished by performing the following duties as required or assigned by the department head.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assists Zoning Officer in application and enforcement of Zoning Ordinance Assists Administrator in application and enforcement of Luzerne County and Pennsylvania State Subdivision and Land Development Ordinances including Subdivision, Land Development and Stormwater Plan reviews Performs and manages complex and sensitive professional planning projects, research, analysis, and consultants with minimal supervision Lead worker on Various State and Local Projects and Programs including Agricultural Preservation, Metropolitan Planning Organization, Hazard Mitigation, etc. Supports Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board Assists in budget and administration, and monitors and controls expenditures Assists comprehensive plan amendments, rezoning, annexations, site plans and plats Performs field inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process and/or to verify that development projects comply with approved plans Advises various councils, boards, commissions, and officials Provides information to the public regarding codes, ordinances, state and federal rules and regulations, policies, and procedures Assists in resolving citizen and customer issues Analyzes policies and ordinances proposed by others for conformance with state and local ordinances Works closely with other departments, agencies and community resources to coordinate project development and departmental activities Prepares Maps, Reports, and other documents Performs related work as required
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Bachelors of Arts or Bachelors of Science (masters preferred) in planning, engineering, public administration, business, architecture, public administration, business administration or closely related fieldGIS, Data and/or Project Management experience preferredAny equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities cited above “LUZERNE COUNTY IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY & AFFIRMATIVE ACTION EMPLOYER.”
