What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Lifeguard position at Luzerne Music Center?
The Luzerne Music Center (LMC) is a summer music camp running from mid-June to mid-August each summer. On the shoreline of Lake Luzerne, LMC's private beach is available to students during the daily recreation period. The Lifeguards will work with our Aquatics Director to supervise camp aquatic activities (swimming, boating, etc.) as detailed in the camp’s approved safety plan. The Lifeguards and Aquatics Director are responsible for maintaining the daily beach conditions log, reporting incidents and ensuring a clean, safe waterfront environment. Swim periods take place from 4 - 6 PM daily, unless otherwise instructed, and the shift (3 hours) runs from thirty minutes before the swim period to thirty minutes after. Weekends and holiday may be required throughout the contract with off days per schedule.
Shift Hours: 3:30PM-6:30 PM daily as required by Camp schedule (dinner provided after shifts)
Contract period: Tuesday, June 23rd through Saturday, August 16th
Qualifications (as per NYS Department of Health):
At least 17 years of age
Current CPR and Lifeguard certification or willingness to obtain
Prior lifeguarding experience preferred.
