Conoco Gas Station Manager

Job Summary:

The Gas Station Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of a gas station. This includes managing staff, ensuring the smooth running of the station, handling customer service, maintaining safety standards, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and multitasking skills to maintain high service levels and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operations Management:
• Supervise daily operations of the gas station, including fuel dispensing, convenience store sales, car wash services, and other associated offerings.
• Monitor fuel inventory levels and order stock as needed.
• Ensure proper fuel handling, storage, and dispensing in compliance with safety regulations.
• Staff Management:
• Hire, train, and manage station staff, including cashiers, attendants, and maintenance personnel.
• Develop work schedules and assign tasks to employees to ensure smooth operations.
• Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and address employee concerns.
• Customer Service:
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing customer inquiries, complaints, and concerns.
• Foster a positive atmosphere for both customers and employees.
• Promote loyalty programs, sales promotions, and special offers to customers.
• Inventory and Stock Management:
• Oversee inventory management for fuel, retail products, and supplies.
• Monitor product stock levels and coordinate timely ordering of necessary items.
• Track inventory losses and identify potential causes of shrinkage or theft.
• Health, Safety, and Compliance:
• Ensure the gas station is in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections of the station, including tanks, pumps, and store areas.
• Maintain up-to-date safety records and manage hazardous material handling.
• Financial Management:
• Track daily sales, fuel dispensed, and store transactions.
• Prepare financial reports including revenue, costs, and profit margins.
• Handle cash management, including deposits and petty cash.
• Maintenance and Facility Management:
• Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the gas station premises, including the forecourt, convenience store, restrooms, and other facilities.
• Coordinate repairs and maintenance as necessary, keeping the facility operational and compliant with regulations.
• Marketing and Sales:
• Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability.
• Manage in-store promotions, advertising materials, and product placement.
• Collaborate with marketing teams for seasonal campaigns or local promotions.
• Reporting and Communication:
• Provide regular updates to upper management on station performance, customer feedback, and any operational issues.
• Document and report any incidents or accidents as per company protocol.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or a related field is a plus).
• Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in retail or gas station operations, with at least 1 year in a managerial or supervisory role.
• Skills:
• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in cash handling and using point-of-sale (POS) systems.
• Knowledge of fuel operations, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25-30 lbs.
• Comfort working in outdoor environments, in various weather conditions.

Working Conditions:

• Full-time position with the possibility of evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
• Some tasks may involve working in physically demanding conditions or handling hazardous materials.
