Senior Air Quality Lead
Location : Downtown Chicago or Western Suburbs Salary Range : $110,000 - $180,000
Position Overview :
We are seeking a Senior Air Quality Lead to manage and support air quality and environmental compliance projects. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in air permitting, emission calculations, regulatory compliance, and environmental assessments. This leadership role requires strong project management skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to foster client relationships while guiding a team of environmental professionals.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead and oversee air quality impact assessments and noise studies, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
Manage and contribute to the preparation of air permit applications, emission calculations, and compliance documentation.
Collaborate with modeling specialists to review air dispersion models using EPA-approved tools such as AERMOD.
Supervise the development of environmental reports, including SPCC, SWPPP, and EPCRA documentation.
Conduct site assessments, inspections, and audits to ensure regulatory compliance.
Develop project proposals, including scope of work, cost estimates, and schedules.
Identify and pursue business development opportunities, supporting marketing efforts and client engagement.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff members.
Ensure adherence to quality assurance and control processes.
Promote workplace safety and enforce company and site-specific safety policies.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
5-15 years of experience in air quality permitting, compliance, and environmental consulting.
In-depth knowledge of air quality regulations, including the Clean Air Act, New Source Review, PSD, Title V Permitting, and other relevant standards.
Strong technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with environmental compliance programs and multi-media environmental audits.
Consulting experience and the ability to leverage client relationships are highly preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
