Opportunity:

Are you a budding journalist ready to dive into the exciting world of news? Fay News 10, part of the Lwood Media Group, has multiple part-time openings for entry-level Reporter/Multi-Skilled Journalists on a 1099 contract basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of newsgathering and delivery within a supportive media environment. We're looking for motivated individuals who are eager to learn how to write compelling stories, capture engaging video, edit content for clarity and impact, and deliver news seamlessly across video, web, and social media platforms. Schedules will vary depending on your availability and the needs of the newsroom.

Responsibilities (with training and mentorship):

• Learn and apply the principles of journalistic writing for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Develop skills in shooting high-quality video footage for news stories.
• Gain proficiency in video editing software to produce compelling news packages.
• Understand and contribute to the station's online presence, including website updates and social media engagement.
• Learn how to deliver news stories effectively on camera (as comfort and skill develop).
• Collaborate with experienced reporters, producers, and editors on story development and execution.
• Pitch story ideas that are relevant and engaging for the Fayetteville community.
• Attend press conferences, community events, and other news gatherings as assigned.
• Adhere to the highest standards of journalistic ethics and accuracy.

Qualifications:

• Enthusiasm for news and a strong desire to learn the fundamentals of journalism.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong work ethic and a proactive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving media landscapes.
• Must have reliable transportation (a car or SUV model year 2010 or newer) and a valid driver's license.
• Flexibility to work varied schedules based on news demands and availability.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Competitive hourly rate on a 1099 contract basis.
