Overall Job Summary:
The HR Generalist will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day HR functions in the warehouse, including recruitment, employee relations, training, compliance, payroll, and performance management. This role ensures that the warehouse team operates efficiently while adhering to company policies, safety standards, and legal requirements. The HR Generalist will work closely with warehouse management to maintain a productive, compliant, and safe work environment.
Core Roles & Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and Staffing: Oversee the hiring process for warehouse positions, from job postings to interviews and onboarding. Collaborate with warehouse managers to assess staffing needs and meet labor demands. Ensure background and reference checks are completed for all new hires.
- Employee Relations: Serve as the point of contact for employee concerns and resolve conflicts in a timely manner. Foster positive relationships between employees and management, promoting effective communication. Address employee complaints and implement solutions to enhance work culture.
- Training and Development: Develop and coordinate training programs on warehouse operations, safety, and compliance. Track employee certifications (e.g., forklift operation, safety protocols) and ensure required training is completed.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure warehouse compliance with labor laws, OSHA standards, and company policies. Conduct regular safety audits and manage workplace safety procedures. Handle workers’ compensation claims and document workplace injuries or incidents.
- Employee Records and Documentation: Maintain accurate employee records, including personal data, attendance, and performance information. Process HR documentation, such as contracts, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Payroll and Benefits Administration: Assist with payroll processing, ensuring accuracy in timekeeping and pay distribution. Manage employee benefits administration, including health insurance and retirement plans. Daily/Weekly audit timecard for Employees/Temporary worker’s timecard.
- Policy Implementation and Enforcement: Implement and enforce company policies regarding attendance, work performance, and behavior. Ensure adherence to warehouse-specific policies, including shift schedules, overtime, and safety regulations.
- Conflict Resolution: Mediate conflicts between warehouse employees and between employees and supervisors. Provide counseling and support to employees on behavioral and professional issues.
- Labor Relations: Coordinate with union representatives (if applicable) to ensure compliance with union agreements. Manage grievance procedures and assist with contract negotiations.
- Exit Interviews and Terminations: Conduct exit interviews with departing employees to gather feedback on their experience and reasons for leaving. Manage employee separations, including resignations, retirements, and layoffs, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies.
Requirements:
- Effective communication skills
- Bachelor degree (HR Management degree is a plus, but not required)
- Proven experience as an HR Generalist, ideally in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 1~2 years of HR generalist experience or relevant HR experience in a professional setting
- Substantial knowledge of state and federal labor law
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism
- Must have a valid driver’s license
