Job Description:
Lycée International de Houston is seeking an energetic and dedicated French Music Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Minimum Requirements
- Masters Degree (preferred) Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Music Education.
- International and/or independent school teaching experience.
- At least three years’ experience teaching French in elementary school (K-5).
- Knowledge and/or experience with the French National Educational Curriculum for primary education.
- Native-level fluency in French.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Positivity, open-mindedness, and adaptability to a multicultural environment.
- Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues from diverse languages and cultural backgrounds.
- Proficiency in basic computer tasks (emailing, word processing, and educational software).
- Eligible to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
Instruction and Classroom Management:
- Plan, deliver, and assess music lessons aligned with the AEFE curriculum and school standards.
- Create engaging and interactive lessons that foster students’ love for music and develop their skills.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of EAL (English as an Additional Language) and/or FLE (French as a Foreign Language) students.
- Maintain a positive and structured learning environment to support student growth.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with colleagues and staff to ensure a cohesive and enriching educational experience for students.
- Communicate with students progress regularly with families through weekly updates and formal evaluations.
- Participate actively in faculty, subject, and cycle meetings as scheduled by the Head of School.
School Community Involvement:
- Take part in school events such as open houses, parent meetings, field trips, fairs, exhibitions, and festivals.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities, such as after-school music programs, performances, and workshops.
Additional Duties:
- Fulfill weekly responsibilities such as supervising carpool, recess, and lunch, as well as providing support during after-school study sessions.
- Monitor student behavior and progress to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to move freely in the classroom and participate in music-related activities.
- Facilitate small and large group instruction effectively.
