The Lycée International de Houston, LIH, was established in 2017 by passionate individuals from different cultural backgrounds and founders who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community. As the sole accredited 18-month through 12th-grade bilingual school in Houston, the Lycée International de Houston offers a unique dual-language immersion program in both French and English. By combining the analytical thinking methods of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) with the dynamic American Curriculum, the school remains dedicated to maintaining academic excellence. The Lycée International de Houston has obtained accreditations by esteemed organizations such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). Position:

Lycée International de Houston (LIH) is seeking a passionate and dynamic High School Science Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a love for teaching and inspiring students in a variety of scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, earth science, and/or computer science. This individual will bring expertise, creativity, and enthusiasm to the classroom, ensuring students are prepared for rigorous IB and AP exams while fostering a deep understanding of scientific concepts. Only candidates with relevant experience will be contacted. Successful candidates will be required to undergo a background check.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree (preferred) or bachelor’s degree in your chosen scientific field.
  • Teaching certification in the state of Texas, with knowledge of TEKS standards.
  • Experience teaching IB Science (SL/HL) and/or AP Science courses (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science).
  • At least five years of teaching experience in a high school setting.
  • Experience teaching multiple science subjects to different grade levels.
  • Familiarity with international or bilingual education settings.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with or teaching children, particularly in an independent, private, college preparatory, or similar school setting.
  • Strong references highlighting your teaching abilities, connection with students, and mastery of your scientific field.
  • Knowledge of 21st-century learning principles and techniques.
  • Skills and flexibility to contribute to the school community in additional capacities (e.g., coaching sports, advising extracurricular activities etc.).
  • Additional science-related skills and work experience that can enrich an independent school community (e.g., advising a computer club, coaching a robotics team, leading science-related excursions, etc.).

Responsibilities:

  • Teach a range of high school science courses, including but not limited to Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Systems.
  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with TEKS standards and support advanced-level IB and/or AP classes.
  • Design and supervise hands-on laboratory experiments to enhance students’ practical understanding of scientific concepts.
  • Differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including ELL (English Language Learners) and gifted students.
  • Ensure adherence to lab safety protocols and provide hands-on laboratory instruction.
  • Integrate technology and digital tools into the curriculum effectively.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance through various methods, including formative and summative assessments, projects, and labs.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, keeping parents/guardians informed of progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency and integration within the Science Department.
  • Stay informed about advancements in science education and integrate innovative teaching techniques.
  • Support students in preparing for standardized tests and college readiness.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide events.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities such as science fairs, clubs, and cross-curricular initiatives.

Community and Team Engagement:

  • Participate in faculty, departmental, and curriculum meetings as scheduled by the Head of School.
  • Actively engage in school-wide events such as open houses, parent meetings, field trips, fairs, and festivals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive educational experience for students.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to monitor and manage student discipline and progress actively.
  • Capable of moving around the classroom to engage students and facilitate activities.
  • Physically able to lift and carry light classroom materials as needed.
