What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineer position at Lydian?
Company Overview
Lydian is on a mission to decarbonize the aviation industry. We develop novel reactor systems to produce sustainable fuels and chemicals from CO2, water, and renewable electricity, instead of fossil fuels. Our process replaces oil and gas refining with fully electrified, modular, and highly efficient reactor systems that enable upgrading of waste CO2 into a range of carbon-neutral fuels and chemicals, starting with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Lydian is backed by top climate investors including Congruent Ventures, Galvanize Climate Solutions, Union Square Ventures, Voyager Ventures, Grok Ventures, and Overlap Holdings. We are building a motivated, diverse, and collaborative team that is passionate about addressing the growing climate crisis and is committed to excellence in their work. In particular, we look for tenacious people who are energized by solving the hardest, highest impact problems that come their way.
Position overview
Lydian is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to own the development, installation, and deployment of internal testing and pilot systems for Lydian’s sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production. These systems are integral for the scale-up of Lydian’s SAF production technology from pilot to commercial scale.
This is a unique opportunity to take ownership and responsibility over a significant scope of work that is critical to Lydian’s success. You will own mechanical system projects from start to finish, including mechanical design, fabrication (including external vendor relationship management), build, and commissioning, with support from other engineering team members. Independence, self motivation and a track record of execution are required to succeed in this role.
We are especially interested in candidates with experience with chemical processes, reactors and related equipment who can work across various engineering disciplines to design simple, smart systems. Your title will be Mechanical Engineer or Senior Mechanical Engineer, commensurate with experience.
