Framing Carpenter
We are seeking a skilled Framing Carpenter to join our team at the Lyman Lumber Company in the Twin Cities area. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for performing carpentry tasks on various projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of tasks in an assigned area, constructing, repairing, restoring, and installing structural woodwork and related materials.
- Communicate effectively with crew members and foremen to ensure seamless project execution.
- Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layouts and determine dimensions and materials required.
- Measure, calculate, and mark cutting lines on materials accurately, using rulers, pencils, chalk, and marking gauges.
- Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
- Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
- Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, and trim, or hardware, using carpenter's hand and power tools.
- Select and supply crew members, carpenters, and leads with materials.
- Use proper nailing procedures for all applications.
- Use hand, pneumatic, and other power tools to measure, cut, and install sheathing for walls and roofs, and all wall components.
- Finish, inspect, and ensure work complies with quality standards and expectations.
Requirements:
- A completion of an apprenticeship program, certificate, or degree program at vocational school or community college is preferred.
- Less than 1 year of carpentry experience in the commercial and/or residential sectors is required.
- Knowledgeable of standard methods, practices, principles, tools, and equipment used in the carpentry trade and its associated occupational hazards.
- Knowledgeable of qualities, adaptability, and use of various woods and materials.
- Basic knowledge of state codes and procedures including energy codes.
- Ability to communicate, read, comprehend, and comply with company policies and procedures, including safety and security.
Work Environment:
The selected candidate will be required to work outdoors in various weather conditions and indoors in a fast-paced construction environment.
