Job Summary
The CAD Drafter position involves creating and refining detailed technical drawings for architectural glass and metal projects. You will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and production teams to ensure that all drawings meet project specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting & Design: Produce detailed shop and fabrication drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and submittal packages, using AutoCAD and BlueBeam.
- Revisions: Update drawings to reflect design changes, specifications, or project adjustments.
- Material Take-Offs: Prepare accurate material lists to support procurement and project planning.
- Documentation Management: Organize and maintain records of drawings, transmittals, and modifications for easy accessibility.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and production staff to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Field Integration: Understand and incorporate field sizes and construction dimensions into designs.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and meet industry standards with a focus on glazing techniques and architectural metalwork.
- Data Management: Utilize tools like Microsoft Excel for project tracking and document management.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of CAD drafting experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and BlueBeam.
- Basic understanding of construction and field sizes.
- Strong math and geometry skills.
- Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and specifications.
- Competence in Microsoft Excel for data management and project tracking.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with glazing techniques and architectural metalwork.
- Familiarity with storefronts, curtain walls, and skylights.
- Prior experience in creating shop and fabrication drawings, material take-offs, and submittal packages.
