Title: Design Engineer
Reports to: VP of Operations
Status: Exempt
Position Overview:

Role Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering (Structures)
- Preferably a Masters Degree in Structural Engineering or Engineering Management
- 1-2 years of engineering experience
- Has, or is qualified to obtain, Engineering Intern status having passed the engineering fundamentals exam
- Is interested in maintaining professional competence through continuing education and self teaching
- Is eager to be active in professional, civic, or other organizations which will enhance professional growth, contribute to the profession, and promote the business interests of the firm
- Ability to work efficiently, ask questions, and communicate with other team members is required

Role Functions, Typical Duties, and Metrics: (typical of the position but are not all-encompassing)
- Job Performance:
- Performs high quality and solutions-oriented engineering at all times
- Participates in the Business Development efforts of the firm
- Receives project assignments from the Resource Manager
- Performs analysis and design of projects under the direct supervision of the Project Engineer or Project Manager
- Checks their own engineering and drafting work for accuracy before submitting to the Project Engineer or Manager, using the Company Quality Assurance Quality Control checklists as a guide
- May have direct contact with the client to understand client's wishes with approval of the Project Engineer
- Assists Project Engineers, Project Managers and others in the design, detailing and construction administration of the projects assigned.
- Provides Construction Administration Phase services, including shop drawing reviews, site observation visits, monitoring of Special Inspections, responses to RFI's etc. under the direct supervision of the Project Engineer
- Accountabilities:
- Project outcomes: Meet deadlines and implement QC’s
- Develop client and industry relationships: Encourage relationships with clients by performing high quality engineering
- Key Results Areas:
- Utilization (90%)
- Participation in company-sponsored culture events
- Participation in BD events when assigned
- Participation in training events
- Sharing of external training to internal team when appropriate (summary of attended conferences, etc.)
