Position Overview

As a Crew Leader within our SI/CA group, your role is a pivotal one in supporting the overall health and operations of our group through providing training and coaching opportunities, as well as optimizing workloads and communication within and amongst crews.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent based on experience.
- Registered Engineer and registered in one or more states.
- Certifications including but not limited to Engineer-In-Training, ICC Master of Special Inspections, or various ICC Special Inspector Certifications, etc.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in structural engineering and/or inspections.
- In-depth understanding of Construction Administration, Special Inspections, Project Management including project financials and scheduling.
- Experience supervising up to four staff members.
- Experience identifying problems and creating solutions.

Role Functions, Typical Duties, and Metrics
- Crew Leadership:
- Provide guidance, support, and direction to crew members (up to 5 members) to ensure the successful execution of projects and operation within the team.
- Discuss weekly lessons learned, concerns, and or struggles. Share with the team as applicable, or with the CA/SI Leadership.
- Communicate solutions to SI crews with a consistent and aligned message – No silos
- Crew Workload:
- Work proactively to optimize crew members’ workload on a weekly basis.
- Foster effective collaboration and communication among crew members and during weekly workload resourcing call.
- Bring to the attention of CA/SI Leadership if crew member workload is consistently lower than anticipated to discuss solutions and identify project opportunities.
- Quality Assurance:
- Work in conjunction with CA/SI Leadership to conduct regular QA on your crews’ projects to verify the accuracy, integrity, compliance of CA best-practices, and consistency of deliverables.
- Periodically attend project meetings (preconstruction, pre-install, OAC) alongside crew members in a supportive way in order to demonstrate methods, as well as to support/foster individual growth.
- Training and Development:
- Work in conjunction with CA/SI Leadership to identify skill gaps within the crew and provide training with the assistance to enhance their SI/CA and structural knowledge and capabilities to help them grow to the next level.
- Work in conjunction with CA/SI Leadership to meet with employees regularly to check-in on overall professional development milestones, goals, and needs:
- Utilize Culture Index assessments as part of check-ins
- Revisit focus areas of growth
- Review established metrics
- Provide a clear evaluation of growth needs with specific targets and goals
- Project Management coaching.
- Client Relations coaching.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the crew, and SI/CA team, seeking ways to enhance efficiency, productivity, and collaboration. This may involve evaluating new add-in tools, exploring automation possibilities, and optimizing CA workflows from lessons learned.
- Assist with encouraging crew members to seek out, obtain, and maintain certifications.
- SI/CA Leadership:
- Meets monthly, or as necessary, to participate in CA/SI leadership meetings to align progress and propose solutions to issues/new processes that will enhance our team in light of team goals and LM’s mission, vision, and values.
- Communicate solutions to crews with a consistent and aligned message – No silos.
- Get feedback from SI/CA Leadership and or Solver Team members on difficult issues; make decisions on how to proceed.
- Participates in new hire interviews for likely crew members and onboarding where needed, as well as travel to other offices to engage with team members.
- Individual Business Development and Client Touchpoints:
- Responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships.
- Meets with potential clients and existing clients to discuss future projects.
- Represents Lynch Mykins at industry events.
