Company Overview:
A Single A team affiliated with the Cleveland Guardians playing in Lynchburg, Virginia. Under new ownership entering the 2024 season with plans of a total re-brand of the team’s identity along with major stadium renovations in the off-season to a Grand Ol’ Ballyard that was built in 1939. The new ownership of the franchise, is dedicated to the revitalization of the facility, the brand and the team’s standing in the community with a focus on an upbeat environment for fans of all ages. The organization is looking for a dedicated and hard-working individual to lead the re-branding and be part of this amazing transition into a new era of a professional baseball franchise for the great baseball fans in the Greater Lynchburg region.
Position Overview:
· Supervise and execute the entire retail operation including policies and procedures, inventory and accounting for on-site, off-site, non-game day and internet sales.
· Order all products (jerseys, headwear, novelties, garments, etc.) for the Team store(s).
· Responsible for receiving inventory (including physical count) and disbursing inventory to brick-and-mortar locations and on-line sales via inventory system.
· Stocks and set up all merchandise retail locations prior to each game or event.
· Responsible for becoming an expert with the Team’s P.O.S. and inventory system.
· Each game closes out retail locations by running P.O.S. reports, locking doors
· Performs end of month physical count of all inventories including storage.
· Maintains vendor files including copies of all purchase orders and invoices with approval of General Manager.
· Approves all merchandise invoices to be payable.
· Tracks via the P.O.S. system all inventory sold at a discount with coding for the purpose of the discount.
· Tracks all inventory comped, who requested the comp merchandise and the purpose for which the merchandise will be used (i.e. community relations, business development, etc.).
· Tracks all inventory sold as part of ticket packages, birthday parties, family day, etc.
· Hire, supervise and train all part-time merchandise employees.
· Prepares master merchandise employee schedule prior to each home stand.
· Other duties as assigned – particularly in the off-season – as assigned based on the skill set of the employee.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 3 years in retail with at least two years of management experience, professional sports experience in a retail operation is preferable.
· Experience ordering products within specific timeframes to ensure products arrive on time. Work with an array of vendors to develop a variety of options for year-round sales.
- Demonstrated knowledge of practices and principles of retail sales/management.
- Successful track record of meeting sales goals, displaying creativity in buying and showing initiative.
Requirements:
* Completing or have completed a four–year college degree strongly preferred (Sport Management, Marketing, Business, Communications or other related fields).
*Ability to maintain flexible hours, including but not limited to, normal business hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays.
* Ability to stand for long periods of time, be able to lift up to 25lbs and be outdoors during the Spring and Summer months.
Additional Qualifications:
*Self-motivated and hard working.
*Current Driver’s License and have own transportation.
*Responsible individual with sound judgement.
*Team Player that must work well in team setting and individually.
*Ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
*This position requires the candidate to have administrative skills, such as using Excel and Microsoft Office Products.
*Candidate must be able to work long hours including weekends in the height of the season.
*Candidate must be able to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop, bend, lift, push, pull, kneel, or crouch for long periods of time.
