What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Educational Therapist position at Lynden Christian School?
Lynden Christian School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Educational Therapist who feels called by God to provide NILD Educational Therapy and other small group intervention supports for students with specific learning needs. This individual will play a key role in supporting students’ academic growth and development while also providing guidance and support for their teachers.
The Educational Therapist will be responsible for conducting Discovery Therapy sessions, utilizing NILD techniques to create individualized programs for each student, and maintaining close communication with parents regarding student progress. Additionally, the therapist will provide small group interventions for K-6 students in reading and/or math, collaborating with other instructors and teachers to assess, analyze, and support students' learning needs. Regular progress monitoring, parent communication, and participation in meetings with teachers and parents are also essential components of this role.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Discovery Therapy:
Conduct regular therapy sessions as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
Review and be informed of diagnostic testing results and educational evaluations for each student.
Use NILD techniques and materials to tailor an individualized program for each student.
Train parents on Rhythmic Writing and set clear homework expectations.
Complete annual testing and provide progress reports to parents, setting goals for continued growth.
Maintain accurate progress monitoring data for each student.
Communicate closely with parents, providing fall parent conferences, semester reports, and a spring annual report and meeting.
Attend monthly therapist meetings led by the Discovery Program Coordinator.
Participate in MDT or parent meetings for students on the caseload.
K-6 Intervention:
Coordinate with other Rx Instructors, classroom teachers, and the Inclusion Specialist to assess students and develop targeted intervention groups.
Provide Tier II small group interventions in reading and/or math for identified students.
Keep teachers informed of student needs and progress.
Maintain accurate progress monitoring data for all students receiving interventions.
Attend monthly therapist meetings led by the Discovery Program Coordinator.
Participate in MDT meetings regarding students on the caseload.
