Northland Services is looking for an HR Generalist to provide daily support for the 55 employees at our terminal located at the base of West Seattle hill. In this role, you will be the sole HR representative, supporting both union and non-union employees, including managers, leads, warehouse freight operators, and equipment operators. You will be the primary contact for recruitment, employee relations, engagement, leave management, and performance management. Our corporate office in Seattle, WA, will support you with payroll, benefits, health & safety, training, and policies. This position is not safety sensitive.

What you will be doing :
- Serve as a resource for employees and management on employee relations issues, fostering a positive and collaborative workplace.
- Utilize HR software systems, such as Dayforce, to manage and complete HR-related tasks effectively.
- Maintain and update employee files in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Post job ads and recruit to fill both permanent and temporary positions.
- Schedule and conduct interviews.
- Schedule and conduct new employee onboarding.
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure smooth transition for new hires and exiting employees.
- Maintain broad knowledge of current federal and state wage and hour laws as well as union contract compliance.
- Review timesheets for payroll processing to ensure the accuracy and completeness of timekeeping data.
- Develop and implement tools and processes that enhance employee engagement and communication.
- Oversee all aspects of employee leave programs, including FMLA, WA PFML, ADA, and other company-specific leave policies. Process and track employee leave requests, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Work with employees and managers to coordinate return-to-work processes and accommodations for employees on leave.
