Contract Attorney

Our client in the Southington, CT area is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Contract Attorney to join their legal team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for an experienced legal professional with a strong background in technology agreements and a deep understanding of risk management in regulated industries. The selected candidate will play a key role in collaborating with cross-functional teams—including technology, risk, operations, and sourcing—to ensure contractual terms are not only compliant but strategically aligned with business goals. The Day-to-Day:

• Draft, negotiate, and review complex commercial contracts with a focus on technology-related agreements.
• Analyze contractual risks and collaborate with internal teams to develop mitigation strategies.
• Interpret and explain contract terms to internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business and legal expectations.
• Advise internal departments on contract compliance, structure, and best practices.
• Provide support for sourcing and third-party relationships, especially those involving emerging technologies like AI and cloud platforms.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school.
• In good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in-house or at a law firm.
• Knowledge of FFIEC guidance on third-party relationships is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with SaaS, cloud computing, PaaS, IaaS, and contracts involving artificial intelligence.
• Familiarity with privacy, cybersecurity, and information security legal considerations.
• Proven ability to advise senior business leaders on risk-based legal decisions.
• Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting, drafting, and negotiating a broad range of agreements.
• Prior experience supporting sourcing and vendor contract functions in a financial services or regulated industry is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across departments and build consensus.

Pay Rate:

• $70.00 per hour
