What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT Trained Medication Aide, TMA - PM position at Lyngblomsten?
About: Lyngblomsten, a 225-bed Care Center located in Saint Paul near Como Park is in search of part time Trained Medication Aides!
Responsibilities:
- Administers medications consistently and accurately under the delegation and supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Performs other treatments and procedures, for example, vital signs, obtaining oxygen saturation, blood sugar readings, oxygen set-up, etc. after proving competence.
- Counts controlled substances with a licensed nurse.
- Reorders medications as needed according to the pharmacy procedure.
- Communicating with care and concern toward the resident as an individual of dignity worthy of respect ‑ seeks to spend social time with residents assigned to his/her care.
- Observation of resident's condition and communicating changes to nurse.
- Attending to various resident needs.
- Participates in resident care conferences as requested, follows care plans when caring for residents.
Qualifications:
- Registered on the Nursing Assistant Registry in an active status.
- Holds a certificate of completion of a sanctioned TMA training course.
- Able to recognize the limitations of the TMA role, maintain standards of practice with the scope of the role and take direction from the licensed nurse and Neighborhood Coordinator.
- Demonstrates an ability and sincere desire to work with the geriatric resident by showing a sense of responsibility, moral integrity and common sense.
- Must be able to understand and follow oral and/or written directions.
