As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Hydrologic Modeler to join our growing team.
The success of the National Water Model (NWM) V4.0 will be highly dependent on an efficient and effective methodology for parameterizing over 800k hydrologic modeling features for the NWM. Lynker is seeking an experienced Hydrologic Modeler to contribute to this unique opportunity. This position will contribute to the Quality Assurance and Quality Control of various NWM components under the Next Generation Water Resources Modeling Framework deployed as the National Water Model. This includes process modules integrated into the framework and model formulations composed of multiple modules. This position will provide assessment and analysis of various hydrologic models and the calibration and validation of the model formulations across the country. This includes documenting and training of other hydrologic modelers in the use and application of these components.
Proficient programming skills, with the ability to read and comprehend software code in more than one programming language.

- Perform Quality Assurance and Quality Control on hydrologic models and formulations
- Conducted quality assurance and quality control on scientific workflows and data processing scripts, including machine learning algorithms.
- Perform calibration, validation, and evaluation of hydrologic models
- Providing feedback on documentation, functionality, and optimization tools of hydrologic models and scientific workflows
- Develop software tools to interpret and evaluate the performance and functionality of hydrologic models
- Analyzing and visualizing hydrometeorological and geospatial data using Python, R, or other open-source programming languages.
- Technical report preparation and documentation
- Fulfilling other duties as assigned.
- BS, MS or PhD in Earth Sciences, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or related disciplines
- 5 years of experience in water resources or related physical science
Proficient programming skills, with the ability to read and comprehend software code in more than one programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in hydrological modeling, process representation, and analysis
- Experience in model calibration and/or search space optimization
- Experience with writing/developing hydrologic modeling software
- Experience with automated hydrologic modeling workflows
- Proficiency with one or more of the following programming languages C, C , Fortran, or Python
