Job Description:
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare solutions and reagents for molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or chemistry teaching labs.
- Set up of equipment for lab classes.
- Work with and care for model organisms (Drosophila, C. elegans, etc.).
- Take down and clean lab equipment and glassware after lab classes.
- Perform demonstrations of lab techniques for science students.
- Supervise student work in science lab classes.
- Maintain inventory and order laboratory supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Candidates must have a strong background in organizing and operating science lab facilities, and supervising others working in a lab setting.
- Candidates must have a strong background in science laboratory safety practices and protocols.
- Candidates must have an experience with common chemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, and/or biochemistry apparatus and techniques.
- Candidates must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Master's degree or higher in Biochemistry or Biological Sciences required.
- One year of experience after graduation working in a chemistry, biochemistry, or molecular biology lab, or teaching lab classes.
- Possess strong lab skills and the ability to responsibly supervise undergraduate students in safely conducting lab exercises in a teaching lab setting.
- Experience working with nucleic acids (PCR, electrophoresis, sequencing, CISPR, etc.).
- Previous experience prepping and running undergraduate science lab classes.
