Description:
Under direct supervision, performs accounting support and administrative work in the preparation, processing, maintenance, and verification of accounting documents and records in the area of accounts receivable.
Essential Functions (regardless of primary responsibility):
Generates related reports.
Researches discrepancies and works with appropriate staff to resolve routine issues.
Applies all rules, policies, laws, and regulations applicable to job functions.
Cross-trains to learn and carry out other accounting technician responsibilities and provides back-up support to other accounting technicians.
Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
Specific Duties for Accounts Receivable:
Assists in preparing month-end and year-end reports; schedules, prepares, and enters monthly-accrued accounts receivable figures; balances and reconciles Accounts Receivable Control and Subsidiary Accounts.
Reviews past due accounts receivables, and contacts customers to collect.
Prepares correspondence pertaining to collections and adjustments.
Inputs and records data to apply cash receipts to appropriate accounts.
Prepares accounts receivable invoices; enters data into the computer system.
Maintains accounts receivable records.
Gathers information and generates financial reports on daily, monthly, and annual basis.
Handles settlement of online credit card transactions.
Verifies daily mail orders.
Performs and prepares monthly closing and reconciliation of Accounts Receivable Subsidiary Ledger to the General ledger; researches and identifies any discrepancies and makes appropriate adjustments.
Assists with the implementation of accounts receivable procedures.
Researches bank chargebacks for pass purchase transition disputes.
Handles customer related mobile application issues.
Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
Specific Duties for GFI Genfare:
Maintains GFI systems data and reviews for validity; initiates corrective action for all problems found from review; prepares the reconciliation of farebox collections to GFI reported collections; classifies and enters all black box and GFI unclassified revenue into database.
Provides various GFI-related reports for other departments; generates ridership and revenue reports on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.
Transfers data from GFI Genfare to GFI Ride, and enters Black Box and Unknown Ridership into the GFI Ride database for Finance and Planning.
Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.); plus
Vocational/technical school training in general accounting or bookkeeping and two years of work experience involving general accounting, bookkeeping, accounts receivable, and computer operations, or a combination of related education, experience and training.

No Work Rule violations from Section 6 - Conduct, 6.1, General (Gross Misconduct) within the past twelve months
No more than three (3) write-ups for any reason within the past twelve months
No more than five (5) chargeable absences within the past twelve months
No suspensions within the past twelve months
Below is the eligibility criteria for internal bus operators to be eligible for a promotion. In addition to meeting the job requirements, they must also meet these requirements.
No Class "C" violations within the past twelve months
No more than 1 Class “B” violation within the past twelve months
No safety related violations within the past twelve months
No more than three (3) Class"A" violations for any reason within the past twelve months
No more than five (5) chargeable absences within the past twelve months
No suspensions within the past twelve months
No more than three (3) miss-outs (combined Miss/MPW) within the past twelve months
Below is the criteria for internal administrative employees to be eligible for a promotion.
Employee eligibility for promotion will be determined by the requirements of the new job. In addition, to be considered, employees must have a satisfactory performance record, must have completed their Introductory Period, and have no disciplinary actions during the past twelve (12) months.
Eligibility criteria applies to a rolling calendar year from date of application.
Desired Qualifications:
Associate’s degree with course work emphasis in Accounting from a nationally or regionally accredited institution; supplemented by one year of previous work experience involving general accounting, bookkeeping, accounts receivable, and personal computer operations.
Experience with GFI Genfare System and/or Great Plains Dynamics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of principles and practices of basic accounting and recordkeeping related to accounts receivable.
Knowledge of accounting processes and procedures.
Working knowledge of automated accounting systems.
Knowledge of rules, policies, laws, and regulations applicable to job functions.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations using a calculator and/or 10-key pad or adding machine.
Ability to recognize priorities, plan, and organize work to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to review, analyze, and interpret accounting data and prepare accurate accounting documents.
Ability to understand, explain, and apply rules, policies, laws and regulations applicable to job functions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with those encountered in the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.
Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work in a diverse environment.
