Description:
Assists Management in issuing and processing all paratransit eligibility programs for LYNX per Federal, State, Local and LYNX guidelines. Assists in functional assessment programs as well as travel training programs. Acts as liaison between LYNX and paratransit customers/prospective customers regarding paratransit eligibility.
Essential Functions:
Provides excellent customer service to all customers, both internal and external.
Answers an average of 60 - 80 calls per day regarding eligibility requirements and determinations.
Provides accurate and detailed information over the phone, in person, and in writing regarding various paratransit programs, standards, and guidelines.
Adheres to all eligibility guidelines from various Federal, State, and Local government agencies as well as other local sponsors (to include re-certifications).
Determines paratransit eligibility based on information provided by the customer and medical professional, as well as results of completed functional assessments.
Schedules customer trips for functional assessments.
Coordinates and schedules out-of-service area trips with service provider.
Fulfills requests for paratransit eligibility applications via fax, mail, or internet.
Processes, prints, and mails eligibility correspondence.
Maintains all files to include recommendations for travel training and visitor status.
Assists with all follow-up calls to doctors, caregivers, etc. for eligibility determination.
Works with various agencies, schools, rehabilitation centers, independent living centers, etc. when determining paratransit eligibility.
Assists in maintenance of all required Federal, State, and Local records.
Assists with random application audits.
Assists in travel training program as needed.
Assists and supports Supervisor and Manager in portions of training for eligibility (to include functional assessment) and travel training. Provides assistance and support in other areas as needed.
Keeps informed and updated on all changes to eligibility guidelines through workshops, internet webinars, and sponsoring agencies. Keeps informed of all fixed route changes and detours.
Assists in master client files maintenance as needed.
Assists both internally and externally with eligibility training through presentations and written material.
Enters paratransit applications into the Trapeze Certification Module as needed.
Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED plus two years of customer service related experience.
Desired Qualifications:
One year of paratransit experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of all paratransit programs, out-of-service area programs and all fixed route/flex services.
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
Knowledge of Americans with Disability Act, Florida Medicaid, and Transportation Disadvantaged Program requirements and related laws and guidelines.
Knowledge of customer service principles.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Skills in the use of advanced technology telephones.
Skills in organizing information and maintaining records.
Skills in entering information into a database.
Skills in using a computer and related software applications, Internet and trip planning software.
Ability to collect and assemble information in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to work in a team environment with a variety of work methods.

Ability to interact with passenger support providers to include health care professionals, family members, and employers.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Must provide and maintain proof of a valid Florida Driver's License and possess an acceptable driving record.

Work Environment and Special Considerations:
LYNX provides the community with much needed public transportation, and it is important for the Agency to resume its services as quickly and as safely as possible in the event of any natural, technological, or human‐ caused emergency or disaster. This position is considered a mission critical member of LYNX’s emergency preparation and response efforts during an emergency or disaster and as such, may be asked to work during these emergencies or disasters.
The hiring rate will be determined by qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements.
