- JOB SUMMARY: This is a non-exempt position. The employee in this position is responsible for receiving phone calls and visitors to the office by responding to their concerns and/or by directing them to the proper authority. This employee will also perform general clerical duties as directed by the supervisor and County Attorney. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5: 00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break daily.

- SALARY AND BENEFITS: Starting wage is between $14.00 16.50 per hour, but will be based on previous job experience. - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- a. Receive and screen in-coming telephone calls;
- b. Greet visitors to the office, respond to their concerns and/or direct them to the proper authority;
- c. Open and distribute mail and other correspondence;
- d. General typing;
- e. Scan, electronically file, and organize a large volume of documents;
- f. Perform general clerical tasks and related duties as requested by the supervisor;
- Handle and process cash payments;
- Report for work on a regular and predictable basis as scheduled;
- i. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a respectful, cooperative, and professional manner with the public, co-workers, and management;
- j. Maintain composure, even in difficult or stressful situations;
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- a. Experience: Two years of general office and/or legal office experience is preferred. Expected to be performing in a satisfactory manner within twelve months on the job.
- b. Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Training with emphasis in secretarial and/or legal process and/or data processing is desired.
- c. Knowledge: Must have the ability to receive, interpret, and follow verbal and written instructions. Required to read, write, and speak English fluently with the ability to speak a foreign language helpful. Must have or acquire knowledge relating to civil and criminal law. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.
- Skills: Operate a typewriter, calculator, personal computer, and copier.
- e. Working Conditions: Very little adverse working conditions exist in this position. May be required to work overtime.
- Interpersonal: Frequent contact with department employees, clients, legal assistants, office administrators, judges, court officials, law enforcement, and the public.
- g. Physical Requirements: Requires sufficient visual acuity to be able to read and write and operate equipment common to this position. Requires sufficient hearing level to be able to effectively communicate with people directly or by telephone. Frequently required to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds to a height of 84 inches.
