Lyon County is currently accepting applications for a Seasonal Worker with the Mason Valley Mosquito Abatement District. Throughout the months of May to September, the Seasonal Worker assists the District Manager in all phases of pesticide application to eliminate mosquitos.QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to operate and maintain motorized vehicles and pest control equipment.Strong attention to detail and ability to complete detailed logs and records.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.Ability to work independentlyMust be at least 18 years old EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent.Experience in pest control, environmental science, or related field preferred.Valid Nevada driver's license with a clean driving record. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.Samples wet sites and applies larvicides, with proper application equipment, when necessary.Safely operates motorized vehicles, equipment, and hand and power tools and for the application of pest control sprays.Maintains and repairs tools and equipment as needed.Operates various motorized vehicles to survey for pest-infested areas.Operates chemical spray equipment, including selecting and mixing the appropriate chemicals, calibrating the spray system, calculating rates and coverage.Completes required daily logs, records and maps.Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.Represents the District with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
