Job Summary
The Director of Nursing acts as a clinical leader by overseeing of all aspects of clinical care within the nursing scope of practice throughout the clinic. The Director of Nursing is a key member of the Leadership Team, contributing to strategic vision of the organization, directly supervising the nursing team, and providing coverage for nursing support to LMCHS patients using a trauma-informed, harm reduction focused, patient-centered medical home delivery model. They participate in the Operations Committee, which oversees training and workforce development programs, new staff on-boarding, Quality Improvement activities, Research programs, and the development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures. The Director of Nursing is expected to uphold and imbue in others a commitment to addressing racism, ableism, fatphobia, gender and sexual discrimination within the organization and our clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities
Supervisor Responsibilities :
- Provides direct supervision of all Registered Nurses, the Outreach RN, and the Medical Assistant Manager, leading hiring, on-boarding, training, professional development, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions for all direct reports. Manages schedules and coverage for the Nursing department, stepping in to provide direct coverage when needed.
- Develops, implements, and maintains policies & procedures, standing orders, guides, handouts, and forms pertaining to the Nursing Departments in collaboration with Operations Committee.
- Provides clinical leadership and oversight to students participating in Lyon-Martin's workforce development programs such as its clinical rotation, externships, and fellowship program.
- Participates and / or leads research programs as needed.
- Serves on the Quality Improvement Committee, leading PDSA interventions and acting as a champion of change.
- Supports team in meeting benchmarks for applicable quality indicators as noted in the annual quality improvement plan.
- Leads and oversees quarterly nursing peer review processes.
- Increases staff competencies and satisfaction through training and mentorship.
- Works to improve the overall quality and efficiency of clinical workflows.
