Open Position : Assistant Dock Master
Reports to : Dock Master
Position Overview : Lyon Shipyard is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Dock Master to join our team. This individual will play a key role in overseeing the daily operations of the dock and carpentry shop, ensuring efficiency, safety, and high-quality workmanship. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maritime operations, with railway experience and knowledge of boat lifts being significant advantages.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist the Dock Master in managing all dock operations, including scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of dock employees and carpentry shop employees, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
- Monitor workflow and productivity, providing guidance and support to team members as needed.
- Conduct regular inspections of dock and carpentry shop areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Collaborate with the Dock Master to develop and implement operational improvements and best practices.
- Assist in training and onboarding new employees, fostering a culture of safety and professionalism.
- Maintain accurate records of dock activities, employee performance, and equipment maintenance.
- Support the Dock Master in communicating with internal and external customers and stakeholders regarding project status and requirements.
- Oversee the maintenance and organization of tools and equipment in the boat lift, railways, dock and carpentry areas.
Qualifications :
Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in the maritime environment.
