Basic Function
The Communications Advisor, Global Corporate Citizenship, is responsible for advancing company culture, brand, reputation and employee engagement by developing and executing global corporate strategies, key initiatives, events, and projects supporting the LyondellBasell (LYB) global corporate citizenship program. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional LYB teams, site managers and local leadership to provide recommendations for community partnerships and initiatives that create sustainable value.
This position reports to the Senior Manager, Global Corporate Citizenship and is located in Houston, TX.
Roles & Responsibilities
General:
- Develop and execute global corporate strategies, key initiatives, events and projects supporting the LYB global corporate citizenship program, Advancing Good.
- Collaborate with cross-functional LYB teams to develop recommendations for community partnerships and initiatives that create sustainable value.
- Partner with local or regional NGOs to foster mutually beneficial relationships, enhancing community impact, company reputation and employee engagement/volunteerism.
- Act as lead support for Houston-Gulf Coast area Advancing Good events, including annual employee volunteerism days, key sponsorship events and awards.
- Manage all aspects of community relations activities, which may include event production, sponsorship activation, grant making and contract negotiations.
- Review charitable contributions grant applications, employee matching gift requests, and oversee grant making process in alignment with the company’s giving strategy, policies and guidelines.
- Build and maintain a strong network of community champions at sites around the world and provide support for local community outreach and activities.
- Develop internal and external communications strategies and tactics to enhance the company’s external reputation and the program’s internal reputation, ensuring continued investment and support from leadership.
- Support the implementation and analysis of metrics and key results to benchmark team progress, evaluate the success of communications initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Oversee the social investment impact reporting process to ensure accurate reporting on social investments and project execution.

Min. Qualifications

- Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
- Detail-oriented with the ability to set priorities to meet deadlines
- Demonstrates resilience in tackling opportunities and challenges of the job
- Strong collaboration and listening skills and works well within and across functions
- Adapts to a rapidly changing environment while maintaining work focus despite challenges or setbacks
- Perform any additional duties as required
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, natural sciences, economics, engineering or a comparable course of study
Work Experience:
- Minimum 6 years of experience in corporate social responsibility, community relations, communications or a related field.
- Prior work experience in ESG-related data analysis is a plus
Languages: English, additional language preferred

- Empathy towards community concerns, needs and expectations and courage to drive management and curiosity in how we aim to be committed to creating good for excellence through our social impact efforts.
- Command of AP Style, while having strong and efficient writing competencies across digital and print platforms
