Basic Function
This position utilizes mechanical skills based on education and experience to resolve rotating equipment issues at the Lake Charles LyondellBasell facility. This includes troubleshooting, overhauling, and repair of all compressors, pumps, and various rotating equipment to maintain continuous operation of the site’s operating units.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Comply with all plant/company HSE policies/guidelines.
- Diagnose and perform right-first-time repairs/preventive maintenance to all plant equipment (i.e., pumps, compressors, steam turbines) as coordinated by supervision.
- Be proficient in use of mechanical equipment (lathes, drill press, band saw, bench grinders. etc.).
- Participate in turnaround maintenance working and alternate work schedule, as required.
- Take ownership of work orders issued to him/her including, but not limited to, repair execution, parts disbursement/ordering, incorrect part reconciliation, constructive feedback communication on repairs and tool time hrs.
- Participate in training and utilize best practices for continual improvement.
- Assumes supervision of workforce team during shutdown and major overhaul activities as assigned.
- Documents detailed maintenance activity report and equipment history.
- Supports ODR, (operator driven reliability)
- Applies multi-crafting skills
Min. Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completed an apprenticeship training program for journeyman mechanic or related experience/education
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in petrochemical or related industry as a millwright/machinist
- Basic computer skills
Preferred Qualifications
- NCCER certification preferred
