Basic Function
The Machinery Condition Monitoring Analyst (MCMA) provides support for machinery reliability in an assigned area of the La Porte complex manufacturing site through the collection, analysis , and reporting of the health of process equipment using predictive condition monitoring technologies to ensure safe and reliable operation of its rotating machinery. These predictive condition monitoring technologies include vibration monitoring and analysis of rotating equipment, oil sampling, PV data collection of reciprocating compressors, and balancing of rotating equipment components. The MCMA develops and ensures timely execution of repair recommendations to process rotating equipment and manages the programs and tools to do so. This position works closely with operations, unit engineers and maintenance personnel in troubleshooting efforts that include identification / confirmation of failure modes, testing / check-out in the shop, and compliance to QA / QC plans. Roles & Responsibilities
- Day-to-day data acquisition from rotating equipment
- Perform analysis of data to resolve or proactively anticipate equipment failures using the following techniques and hardware : Vibration – trending, spectrum analysis, time-wave form signals, phase angle analysis, gap voltages, impact testing, thrust position, and load cells. Lube oil – wear particle analysis, water content, ferro-graphic analysis, spectro-chemical analysis Other – pressure / volume data collection, machinery performance data, and process data
- Implements, refines, and maintains continuous monitoring systems / databases, such as AMS Machinery Health Manager, Bently Nevada System 1, and Lubrication databases. Includes items such as alarm, report, and acceptance regions, as well as establish routes and their frequency.
- Report equipment deficiencies utilizing tools such as SAP and Meridium and make recommendations regarding actions to take. Verify accuracy of predictions against shop / maintenance follow-up reports and KPI’s.
- Follows scheduling of recommended repairs through ownership of notifications and corresponding follow-ups.
- Collaborate with responsible Maintenance / Reliability specialists, engineers, planners, and supervisors to ensure proper priorities are placed on deficiencies and continuous learning / improvement processes such as bad actor identification and correction.
- Supports Operations on equipment issues through troubleshooting.
- Provides technical input for Maintenance QA / QC regarding condition monitoring hardware to ensure repair quality.
- Perform or monitor in place and shop repairs and balancing of rotating equipment.
- Supports turnaround activities as needed in planning and / or execution.
- Provides timely and accurate input for condition monitoring and / or reliability tracking metrics.
- Publishes routine updates to area leadership and stakeholders on rotating equipment reliability threats.
