Basic Function
The Digital Technology (DT) Business Interface (BI) Director, Olefins and Polyolefins (O&P), Trading, and Commercial Intelligence (CI) is the trusted strategic partner for digital technology globally across LyondellBasell’s leading Commercial O&P Business Segment, enabling Business Value realization through digital technology, in alignment to LYB’s strategic priorities.
As the DT BI Director of O&P and Trading the position bridges a common Digital Technology Strategy between IT and the Business. Role is responsible for the Demand Management of the Business Segment and Programs providing visibility to enable the business to prioritize demand against limited DT and Business Resources. The BI Director shepherds the Business Segment in defining, influencing, shaping, managing, evaluating, and prioritizing DT initiatives to ensure they are operationally executable and aligned to both the enterprise and the Business Segments strategic objectives.
LyondellBasell is developing a Global Trading Platform and organization, and the DT BI Director for O&P will be responsible for managing the development of IT strategies required to align business objectives with newly established CTRM (Commodity Trading & Risk Management) trading platforms and applications. Position will work closely with the business to facilitate the design into a scalable, secure, and high-performance trading system related to deal capture, risk management, settlement / invoicing, and Market Integration.
The DT BI Director manages the outcomes, innovation pipeline, and end-to-end delivery of digital technology for the technology portfolio of the O&P Business Segment focused on Commercial Excellence technologies, including operations and lifecycle management. The objectives will be to identify, prioritize, and execute those programs and solutions that will yield the optimum gain in terms of revenue, process improvement, productivity, and benefit to the corporation.
Reporting to position will be the APAC / AFMEI Business Interface, responsible partnership with Commercial Organizations (O&P, I&D, APS) across the region, along with various Trading business interfacing resources.
Roles & Responsibilities
This role will partner with the Business Segments and Commercial Partners to develop strategic DT roadmaps, short- and long-term initiatives and project plans and identify technology trends and support Segment strategies. The position interfaces frequently with senior leaders and will build and maintain relationships and interface regularly with strategic suppliers at all levels. The position will be responsible for the success of DT initiatives across the Olefins and Polyolefins (O&P) Business Segment; and Trading and Commercial Intelligence (CI) across all Business Segments.
- Business Relationship - Own Business relationships with Business Segments and Commercial Partners (inclusive of demand management). Work within DT organization to ensure expectations are met.
- Single Point of Contact – For the Business related to project demand, issue resolution, DT Operations requests, software & licensing requests, cybersecurity and digital solutions; Collaborate with others within DT to meet customer needs.
- Trading Platform Development – Develop and translate requirements for LyondellBasell’s trading platform and applications to enable business objectives with the technology delivery from the Digital Technology organization.
- Strategy & Roadmap - Partner with Business and Commercial stakeholders to co-create and sustain multi-year strategic roadmaps & ST innovation pipeline required to achieve Business goals with a focus on VEP as part of strategy, demand funnel and way of working / operating model.
- Demand Management - Provide clear visibility of demand vs resources for the Business Segment, Trading, and Commercial Intelligence. Enable forward looking investment planning for key budget cycles and ensure unplanned project requests and enhancements are guided through the DT Demand Intake Process.
- Technology Lifecycle - Identify & develop multi-year roadmaps and investment goals which are aligned to enterprise-wide, long-term Business strategies and objectives and which address technology lifecycle including obsolesce, risk and emerging technologies. Work with Enterprise Architecture to ensure the strategic Business roadmaps are underpinned by appropriate digital technology.
- Collaborate with Strategy & Planning Manager - Enable consistency and execute strategic planning process within and across the BI – Commercial (O&P, I&D, APS) organizations. Collaborate closely to direct and provide process improvement needs to manage business interface interactions.
- Partner, interface, and attend Business and Commercial stakeholders staff meetings to ensure Digital Technology is an integrated component of Business strategies.
- High partnership engagement with global Business and Commercial Sr. Leaders to provide tactical and strategic technology services and solutions that align with the respective Business strategy. Face to Executive Committee regarding Digital Technology strategy execution and board level presentation.
- Be accountable for consulting and / or project teams to deliver engagements, including mission and DT requirements, Business justification models, Business use cases, reengineered process and / or workflows, program plans and roadmaps, organizational designs, change management and communication plans, Business and technical architectures, and Business capabilities and solutions.
