Basic Function
The Logistics Scheduler is an integral part of the Bulk Handling Operations providing guidance and direction on a daily basis regarding the loading requirements by container type (barge, rail car, truck) to the bulk handlers across the Channelview site. Basic duties include communicating with the Corporate Logistics group to establish customer loading requirements on a daily / weekly / monthly basis. Confirms with Unit Operations when products are ready to ship and the approval to do so against established Certificates of Analysis. Works to resolve customer issues that may come up on a daily basis. Ensures that all documentation is prepared and routed to all affected parties.
Prepares a daily / weekly / monthly schedule for all loading operations. Prepares information for the Bourque Yard Master Program indicating which rail cars are needed from the switching group and which rail cars must be placed on the out bound to the Union Pacific RR. Available after hours and weekends to resolve unit product movement / shipping needs. Coordinates with Bulk Handling Operations Management / Supervision on a daily basis any personnel requirements that may be needed.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Communicate with LyondellBasell Corporate and Site Traffic Groups, Covestro, and Bulk Handling personnel as well as LYB Unit Operations and raw material inventory coordinators. This would include monitoring and maintaining storage tank levels, drum levels for loading purposes where necessary.
- Responsible to verify / confirm with Unit Operations, finished products are in specification prior to loading instructions being issued.
- Maintain a 4 day look ahead schedule for loading needs.
- Communicate and work with the Corporate Business / Supply Chain groups to resolve any customer related issues.
- Plan and coordinate tank trailer, railcar, and barge loading / unloading schedules to meet plant operations, material inventory and business requirements.
- Set loading / shipping priority and outbound shipment of vessels (tank trailer, railcar, and barge)
- Established proficiency in SAP to access weekly load / shipping orders necessary to develop daily / weekly / monthly schedules.
- Knowledgeable of Federal Regulations applicable to Bulk Shipping, handling and receiving of Hazardous / Non-Hazardous materials.
- Work directly with the site switching crews to provide input for the rail car tracking system (Bourque Yard Master). Provide goods receipting on inbound raw materials. Work to accurately forecast switching and staging requirements to the switching group.
- Ensure that all pertinent documentation (shipping documents, inspections, work permits, vendor receipts are routed to all affected parties.
- Have a working knowledge of Governmental regulations that affect daily / weekly / monthly schedules such as (Coast Guard, DOT, IMDG, EPA, FRA, CFR,
- Coordinate / Communicate with Bulk Handling Supervision on loading requirements daily to make sure manpower scheduled matches the loading requirements.
- Available after hours and weekends to resolve product movement / shipping conflicts.
