Basic Function
Provides security, safety, and emergency response services to the facility. The position performs plant security, safety, and emergency response duties as required to protect facility personnel and assets.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Performing security duties to include protecting company assets and responding to security threats. Responds to security and other related plant emergencies to include fires, spills, gas release, rescue, and medical emergencies.
- Monitoring and operating dispatch, communication, emergency notification, security monitoring, and fire / hazard systems as assigned.
- Provision of high level investigative and follow-up services and reporting
- Performing duties as per Facility Site Security Procedures and Facility Security Plan (FSP)
- Project administration skills necessary to implement processes and procedures.
- Interacts with the public as a site first responder to security incidents and potentially suspicious activities at the perimeter of the Channelview site.
- Enforces site security processes and procedures, to include facility entry requirements.
- Investigates security incidents and writes security incident reports.
- Utilizes computer systems on a routine basis to prepare and file security reports and maintain other security data.
- Uses leadership experience to help coach and develop less experienced members of the Channelview site Security Department in day-to-day security operations.
- Serves as a technical expert and resource to contractor security officers regarding security systems and software, including :
- The Site-Wide Emergency Notification System
- Lenel OnGuard access control system
- Solutions Now truck scale software
- IMPACT Incident Management System
- Emerge / E-Notify Emergency Paging / Notification System
- Best Key and Lock Systems
- Ensures contract security officers perform their duties to Operational Excellence standards and seeks to drive continuous improvement in daily performance; Performs security audits of security contractors and reports results to the Channelview site Security Supervisor.
- Serves as a security consultant.
- Ensures the facility remains in compliance with the Channelview site Facility Security Plan.
- Responds to emergency call-outs
- Works effectively with a broad range of work groups, including employees, contractors, visitors, vendors, delivery drivers, family members, members of the local community, local and federal law enforcement, and plant leadership.
- Accurate and proper facility communications for routine and emergency situations.
- Security loss prevention and safety performance.
- Security personnel performance during routine and emergency operations.
- Increased reliability of systems and process.
- Delivery of quality services.
- Regulatory compliance with internal and agency audits and inspections.
- Provides Security Coordination during turnarounds and Capital Projects
- Coordination of security to include providing leadership, coaching and development of less experienced personnel. Maintains advanced knowledge of specific technical and regulatory requirements providing innovative ideas and highly specialized information to positively affect security performance.
- Providing back-up for Security Supervisor. Training and education of Lead Security Technicians. Provides innovative security and asset control ideas and applies highly specialized acquired knowledge to guide less seasoned Security professionals to positively affect the company’s overall performance
- Member of the Security Emergency Operations Center Team.
Min. Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
1. Two (2) years professional experience of which one (1) must be in law enforcement, security, emergency response, or safety.
2. Three or more years of Security Supervisory experience preferred
3. Highly effective verbal and written communication; ability to work effectively with regulatory, law enforcement and emergency response organizations
4. Extensive physical activity and use of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) is required.
5. Advanced computer skills including competency in Microsoft Windows type applications. Advanced use of computers to prepare and complete reports, perform data entry, and operate access control and security systems.
6. Ability to work at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
7. Ability to perform in emergency or stressful conditions.
8. Ability to work a rotating shift schedule and to respond to emergency call-outs
