The role ensures the integrity of electrical maintenance across all facets of facility operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Directs foremen, employees, and contract maintenance to plan and execute facility asset maintenance while adhering to safety procedures and union contracts.
- Evaluates facility milling, packaging, and material handling production equipment conditions and recommends scheduling major maintenance.
- Reports daily to the plant General Manager, discussing maintenance activities, production levels, problems, and providing input for solutions.
- Reviews and approves preventative maintenance, production, and other reports prepared by subordinates.
- Maintains a safe work environment and minimizes MSHA citations.
- Monitors budget performance and directs operations to maintain acceptable variances.
- Develops and executes electrical projects or electrical portions of projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- 2-5 years progressive industrial supervision experience.
- Minimum 1 year Maintenance and Reliability supervision experience.
- Strong electrical controls experience.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
- PLC programming experience.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- Journeyman / Master Electrician certification and/or Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
- Strong maintenance background with hands-on expertise resolving complex problems.
- Strong electrical expertise, including troubleshooting, power distribution, and PLC experience.
- Strong hoist and shaft knowledge and experience solving complex problems.
- Strong understanding and experience of MSHA regulations.
Work Environment
- Must be able to work productively in a group environment.
- Must be able to work additional hours as required.
- Must lift up to 50 pounds, wear PPE, navigate offices, and work in hot, cold, or wet outdoor environments, and underground mine settings.
Essential Job Functions
- Provides hands-on assistance in facility operations, inspecting work areas for safety hazards and mitigation as necessary.
- Supervises salt spillage under conveyor belts and along walkways, requiring ladder climbing, bending, twisting, and lifting heavy loads.
- Supervises inspection of electricians or other employees in major repairs.
- Directs equipment operators and identifies potential hazards.
- 3-phase industrial power experience - 480V, high voltage experience up to 12.47kV preferred.
- High voltage distribution and transformer experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent project coordination and detailed planning skills.
- Possesses mechanical aptitude and knowledge of maintenance and preventative maintenance.
- Able to comprehend simple accounting practices, procedures, and reporting.
- Maintains efficient operation while enforcing high-level manufacturing practices and safety rules, including MSHA requirements.
- Hands-on electrical/electrician skills - Journeyman or Master electrician status preferred.
- Electrical engineering and/or experience in electrical design preferred.
